Mundelein is a quaint village in the center of Lake County approximately 35 miles northwest of Chicago.

More than 31,000 people live in the community that features three lakes, Diamond Lake, Loch Lomond and Sylvan Lake, that offer wonderful beaches and excellent water activities.

Mundelein has gone through several name changes and was originally called Mechanics Grove in 1835,

In 1909, Chicagoan Arthur Sheldon built several large buildings to begin creating home study business school courses and requested the name be changed to Area, an acronym for the company's motto: Ability, Reliability, Endurance, and Action.

Construction began in 1920 for St. Mary of the Lake Seminary under the direction of Cardinal Mundelein. The townspeople were so excited with arrival of the seminary, along with a new firetruck donated by Cardinal Mundelein, that the town again changed its name to Mundelein in 1924.
