Baseball: Geneva's Hahn picks up win No. 250

Mitchell Merges (5-1) allowed just 3 hits with 9 strikeouts and 4 walks as Geneva (16-6) defeated East Aurora 11-1 Saturday in an Upstate Eight Conference crossover baseball game for Vikings' coach Matt Hahn's 250th career win.

A.J. Hostman had 2 hits for the Vikings, Vince Pray added a double and 2 RBI and Jack Wassel drove in 2 runs. Ruben Nino had a double for East Aurora.

Larkin 6, Bartlett 2: Larkin had only 6 hits but took advantage of 5 errors by Bartlett to beat the Hawks 6-2 in a UEC crossover game called after 5 innings due to rain. Kordell Thomas had a 2-run home run for the Royals (3-17), Cy Kerber a double and 2 RBI and Seth Morford 2 hits. David Weaver was the winning pitcher, going the complete 5 innings and allowing 7 hits and 1 earned run. Brad Nowak had 3 hits with a triple, a double and an RBI for Bartlett (6-13) while Cameron Mays added a double. Matt Johnson took the loss on the mound for the Hawks.

St. Charles North 6, West Chicago 2: The North Stars (17-3) bounced back from having their 14-game winning streak snapped on Friday by winning this UEC crossover. Luke Corcoran had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for SCN while John LaGare added a triple and an RBI and Sam Faith had 2 hits with a double. Bennett Christiansen was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings and allowing 1 hit with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Glenbard East 11, Streamwood 1: Ryan Fitzgerald had 3 hits and Jose Aguilar added 2 for the Sabres (5-13) in this UEC crossover loss.

McHenry 10, Huntley 1: Brad Model had 2 hits with a double for Huntley (13-6, 8-3) in its Fox Valley Conference Valley Division loss.

CL South 5, Lakes 3: Michael Humphrey had 2 hits and Cam Geisser drove in 2 runs to lead Crystal Lake South (17-3) to a nonconference win. Andrew Engelking picked up the win in relief, going 3 innings and allowing 2 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Conant 5, Jacobs 2: Stevie Krueger had 2 hits for Jacobs (13-8) in this nonconference loss. Evan Liebau took the loss on the mound going 6 innings and allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Burlington Central 13, Belvidere North 3: Clay Milas allowed 5 hits in 5 innings, no earned runs and had 6 strikeouts and 2 walks as the Rockets (13-7) won this nonconference game. Milas also had 3 RBI while Craig Schuring (2B), Killian Vasica (2 hits, 2B), Matt Termini (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Dakota Sciabaras (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Paddy McKermitt (2 RBI) also contributed to the BC offense.

Cary-Grove 6, Fremd 3: Tyler Pennington had a double and 3 RBI and Collin Walsh added a double and an RBI to lead the Trojans (15-7) to a nonconference win. Ben Dolezal went 5 innings and allowed 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk to earn the win.
