Carpentersville teen charged in Elgin car burglary

A 19-year-old from Carpentersville is accused of taking undisclosed items from a vehicle parked in Elgin, police said.

Jesus Villagomez, of the 0-100 block of South Green Street in Carpentersville, is charged with felony burglary, police said. A Kane County judge on Saturday ordered Villagomez held on $10,000 bail.

Officers were called about 9:17 a.m. Friday by a witness who saw a person pulling door handles to see if parked vehicles were unlocked on the 1900 block of Castle Pine Circle, police said.

Officers spotted Villagomez and ordered him to stop. After a brief foot chase, Villagomez, was taken into custody, police said.

Police said they found burglary proceeds from a vehicle in the area where Villagomez was apprehended. Those items belonged to a vehicle on the 1900 block of Castle Pine Circle, police said.

Villagomez would have to post $1,000 to be released from Kane County jail.
