Students share their musical talent at library's 'Rock the MIC' event

The Algonquin Area Public Library is pleased to partner with the H.D. Jacobs High School Music Industry Club (MIC) in presenting "Rock the MIC" from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 5.

The library will host this semiannual musical talent exhibition on their backyard patio at Harnish Main Library, 2600 Harnish Drive, west of Randall Road in Algonquin.

Past performers include a blues trio, solo acoustic guitar, a rapper, a string instrument duo, a teacher-student musical collaboration, and a performance by a composer/pianist.

MIC is a student-run organization providing student musicians with a place to perform, learn about the music business, and gain experience.

"I'm always very excited about hosting Rock the MIC - we have the perfect venue for friends, family and community members to come hear the amazing music these students make," says Jen Jazwinski, Young Adult Librarian. "Every year I'm so impressed with what they put together for their performances."

In the event of inclement weather, Rock the Mic will be moved to the Library's Meeting Room on the lower level.
