Boys water polo: Fremd falls to Mundelein in OT

Fremd's boys water polo team took the team ranked No. 9 in the state to overtime on Wednesday before coming up a goal short.

Mundelein (22-7), ninth in the most recent assessment from illpolo.com, edged the Vikings 9-8.

Fremd (19-5) got a total of 4 goals from Robert De Pau, including 2 in the overtime sessions.

Alex Nicholas also scored twice, and Derek Warnstedt and Dylan Assmann had 1 goal apiece.

Assmann had 2 assists and Ryan Dudar had 1 while Zak Keper made 11 saves in goal.

Fremd will meet Wheeling in the Mid-Suburban League championship game next Thursday at 6 p.m. The contenst will be played at Buffalo Grove.

York 14, Palatine 4: Senior goalie Jake Conrad stopped 9 shots as the Pirates (7-16) dropped a nonconference game in Elmhurst. T.J. May scored twice, and Campbell Boston and Dylan White had 1 apiece for Palatine.

York (15-6) is ranked No. 13 in the state by illpolo.com.
