Herald should admit mistake on Rauner

It is time for the Daily Herald to admit that its gubernatorial endorsement of Gov Bruce Rauner was a mistake.

I believe his stubbornness is " ... responsible for steadily increasing suffering caused by the cutbacks and closures at agencies that provide assistance to the most innocent, the most vulnerable and the hardest-hit victims of the budget impasse-the needy, the elderly & the disabled." DH directed these quoted words only at the legislative leaders in its April 21 editorial, not Gov. Rauner.

If Pat Quinn were governor, there would have been a balanced budget by July 1, 2015.

It is time for DH to place the blame for the dire circumstances on Gov. Rauner, who initiated this mess with legislative approval of his Turn-Around Agenda as a precondition to budget talks.

Every board of directors would have fired long ago a new, inexperienced CEO whose company budget was 10 months overdue and no finalized budget in sight.

Your endorsement warned that his lack of knowledge how state government/politics works, his political naiveté, was a disadvantage. This negative has overwhelmed the positives that you praised when you gave your support earlier.

If it were possible, I am ready to recall him in order to save the state and relieve the suffering of the needy, the elderly, the disabled and the residents of Illinois. Are you ready to admit your mistake?
