Explore The Beatles with author Robert Rodriguez at Geneva library

Join in an exploration of The Beatles across the decades with author Robert Rodriguez from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 3-17, at the Geneva Public Library, 127 James St. Each program will feature an original documentary which includes rare audio, video, and images as well as loads of music. To register, call (630) 232-0780 or visit www.gpld.org.

On May 3, "The Beatles' Performing Years 1957-1966" will trace the origins of the group, from their skiffle days as The Quarry Men through the decision to cease touring in 1966.

On May 10, "The Beatles' Studio Years 1967-1970" begins where the previous week's program leaves off - featuring how the Beatles broadened their artistry into uncharted waters by using the studio to achieve sounds only heard inside their own heads.

On May 17, "The Beatles' Solo Years 1970-1980" depicts the bitter breakup and subsequent efforts by all four ex-bandmates to establish their individual identities while laboring under the giant shadow of their collective past.

Rodriguez, an award-winning author, has written extensively about The Beatles: five books so far, including "Solo in the '70s" and the acclaimed "Revolver: How The Beatles Re-imagined Rock 'N' Roll." He also has contributed numerous articles to Beatlefan magazine, and is regularly interviewed on radio and TV about the group.
