Softball: Heraty's heroics lift Libertyville

Hannah Heraty did it all for Libertyville's softball team, going 4-for-5 with a homer, double and 5 RBI, while also earning the win, as the Wildcats captured a 13-7 decision over Mundelein in North Suburban Lake Division action on Tuesday.

Libertyville improved to 14-5 and 5-1 in the NSC Lake.

Heraty (12-5) went the distance in the circle, striking out nine. She gave up 7 hits and 4 walks.

Franny Quenan also was 4-for-5 for the Wildcats, doubling twice and knocking in 2 runs. Madde Hollinger went 2-for-4, and Emily Hilldale contributed a double.

Amanda Diaz was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and 2 RBI for Mundelein (6-15, 0-5). Jordyn West finished 3-for-4 with a double for the Mustangs.

Antioch 12, Vernon Hills 2: Jacklyn Geraty hit a two-run homer and threw out a runner at home from right field for a 9-2 double play, as the host Sequoits won in the North Suburban Prairie game in five innings.

Ashley Stephens and Katie Sorenson both went 2-for-3 for Antioch (15-6, 6-1). Annie Wagner (3 RBI) and Deighton Butenschoen doubled for the Sequoits. Jill Foote returned to the lineup after missing two games with an ankle injury and went 1-for-4 with a stolen base.

The winning pitcher was Stephanie Bonaguidi, who allowed 2 runs (both earned) in 3 innings. Hannah Cook, who worked out of a jam in the fourth thanks in part to Geraty's defensive gem, earned the save.

Vernon Hills had 4 singles.

Carmel 15, Lake Zurich 5: Jen Giesey, Amanda Elert and winning-pitcher Claire Petrus homered as part of a 17-hit attack, as the Corsairs won the nonconference game in six innings.

Dani DeLozier was 4-for-5 with 2 RBI for Carmel (13-7). Elert also doubled and finished 3-for-5 with 5 RBI. Giesey went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI.

Petrus allowed 1 earned run and 1 hit in 3 innings pitched.

Grant 11, Round Lake 0: Becca Wold went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI for the Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Erin Bengston was also 3-for-4 for Grant, while Hannah McCall went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored. Kenzi Sancken had a triple. Bengston and Brie Burgeson doubled as well

McCall pitched a six-inning complete game, striking out 10 and allowing only 2 hits, singles to Katie Bleim and Libby Larson.

Huntley 9, Grayslake Central 3: Reagen Radke suffered the loss for the host Rams, despite allowing just 2 earned runs in the complete-game effort.

Radke also hit a solo home run and finished 2-for-2. In the circle, she gave up 10 hits and struck out five.

Grayslake Central (11-7, 4-1 Fox Valley Fox) got doubles from Nicole Warren and Lexi Waigand.

Grayslake North 3, Dundee Crown 1: Jessica Vaughn went the distance in the circle, scattering 6 singles, striking out two and giving up 0 earned runs for the Knights in the Fox Valley Fox game. She finished the game with an efficient 93 pitches.

Jenna Pozezinski went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI, and Katie Moats contributed the other RBI for Grayslake North. Grace Brown went 2-for-3.
