Baseball: Vernon Hills hits its way past Lakes

Vernon Hills rolled up 12 hits, with Drew Winegardner, Brennan Reback, Tommy Earhart, Connor McNamara and Joe Rangel each getting 2, on the way to a 6-3 victory over Lakes in North Suburban Prairie baseball on Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Brad Larsen had 3 strikeouts in three innings.

For Lakes, Ben Milewski went 2-for-3 with a double.

Grayslake Central 11, Crystal Lake Central 1 (6): Grayslake Central broke a four-game losing streak by scoring 4 runs in the first inning.

The Rams had 9 hits, led by Kyle Allen, who had 2 hits including a double.

Jake Dooley blasted a triple and Ben Parker and Benton Troehler each had RBI doubles.

Freshman Coby Moe tossed four innings to pick up the win. He allowed just 3 hits and struck out 3 batters.

Warren 5, Zion-Benton 0: Ryan Davila pitched five innings and struck out 8 batters while allowing only 1 hit and 1 walk for Warren. He also went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.

Tanner Dyer and Michael Rosenberg had 2 hits each for the Blue Devils, who improve to 13-5 on the season.

Antioch 10, Round Lake 0 (5): Connor Geidner led Antioch with 2 hits, including a double.

Winning pitcher Ben Gutke rolled up 8 strikeouts over three innings.

McHenry 6, Grant 1: Grant dropped to 12-8 with the loss. Pitcher Bryan Libby suffered his first loss of the season (4-1).

Grant mustered just 1 hit on the game, by Brendan Dreschler.

Wauconda 13, North Chicago 0 (5): Conner Olson had 3 hits, including a double, to lead Wauconda.

Winning pitcher John Herbst rolled up 8 strikeouts over five innings.
