Yorkville man dies in I-88 crash near Naperville

A Yorkville man died after a crash involving two trucks during last night's commute on I-88 near Naperville, state police said. The crash shut down two of four lanes of westbound I-88 for much of the evening rush hour. Full story.

Lightning strikes Vernon Hills townhouse building

A lightning strike last night displaced four families in a Vernon Hills townhouse building. According to a news release from the Countryside Fire Protection District, lightning struck about 7 p.m. on the 300 block of West Alpine Springs Drive. Two people were taken to the hospital after their vehicle crashed into a wall outside Starbucks in Libertyville yesterday afternoon, fire officials said. 10 years prison for repeat offender from N. Aurora

A North Aurora man with a long criminal history was sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2014 residential burglary in Aurora, Kane County prosecutors announced yesterday. A Kane County jury in February convicted Roosevelt T. Yankaway, 23, of the 100 block of East State Street, of one count of residential burglary, a felony. Full story.
