Community Music In Palatine This Weekend

Palatine Park District offers three concerts this weekend, featuring Allegro Community Chorus on April 29 and Palatine Children's Chorus on April 30. All concerts will be held at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine, and tickets can be purchased through the box office at 847-202-5222 or www.cuttinghall.org.

Under the direction of Kevin Kelly, Allegro Community Chorus presents "Aspects of Love" on Friday, April 29 at 7:30 pm. From traditional American spirituals to favorite Broadway songs, the concert will include a wide variety of genres and will feature several soloists and small groups including Allegretto and the Women of Allegro. The group is managed by Patt Carmody and will be accompanied by Vicki Sowinski.

Allegro Community Chorus is designed for the singer with limited choral experience. Auditions are not necessary, and all are welcome. Rehearsals for the summer session will be held on Wednesdays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm beginning June 15. Music selections will be tailored to fit the choir and to encourage musical growth among its members. Learn more about Allegro at www.allegrochorus.org and plan to attend the Fall Meet & Greet on Wednesday, August 31 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Emmett's Brewing Company, 110 N. Brockway Street, Palatine. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to enjoy appetizers while meeting members of Allegro, Palatine Park District staff, and artistic director Kevin Kelly. A cash bar will be available.

On Saturday, April 30, Palatine Children's Chorus presents their spring concert, "Bloom," at 1p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The 1p.m. show will feature Do Re Mi, Treble Choir, and Intermezzo Choir, with special appearances by the Honors and Concert Choirs. The 3:30 p.m. performance will showcase the talents of the Intermezzo, Honors, and Concert Choirs. Song selections will feature the sounds of spring through a variety of works including Irish, Calypso, Zambian and American traditional and folk songs. The concert will end with "Seed to Sow," a song that has become very special to PCC. This song closes every Spring Concert when Alumni are invited to the stage to join the choir in singing.

Palatine Children's Chorus is led by Artistic Director Rachel Rosellini. Assistant directors are Nate Coon and Stevee Bellas, and the chorus is accompanied by Principal Accompanist Susan Chappell and Assistant Accompanist Crystalyn Boyer. Palatine Children's Chorus is managed by Melissa Schlesinger.

PCC will offer two free Welcome Nights on August 22 and August 24 at 6:30 p.m. Children who are interested in joining PCC are encouraged to come to a Welcome Night with a parent to meet the staff and learn more about PCC. All children who attend a Welcome Night will be welcomed into the PCC family. PCC believes that all children have a voice to share! For more information, visit www.thepcc.org.
