Top Box Foods and Erie HealthReach Health Center Inaugurate New Waukegan Location to Access High-Quality, Nutritious Foods at Affordable Prices on May 19, 2016

Top Box Foods and Erie HealthReach Waukegan Health Center have partnered to improve health and nutrition in Lake County. Waukegan area residents will be able to purchase low-cost, high-quality, healthy foods when Top Box Foods Express kicks off a Lake County shopping site at Erie HealthReach Waukegan Health Center (2323 Grand Ave) on Thursday, May 19 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

At the kick-off, Top Box Foods Express will be offering their fresh, healthy produce and USDA frozen meats and proteins in a market-style shopping experience. Customers can view displays of the monthly offerings, make a purchase for about 40% less than retail equivalent prices, and take items home to enjoy the same day. No pre-order, no qualifying, no resident restrictions, everyone is welcome.

Christopher G. Kennedy, son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, and his wife Sheila Berner Kennedy founded Top Box Foods in 2012. "Our goal is to get more good food to more good people," explains Ms. Kennedy. "Utilizing bulk purchasing power allows Top Box Foods Express to get high quality products at a great value and then pass on the savings to the customers. Purchasing from Top Box Foods is a way for people to spend far less on groceries while enjoying more nutritious and convenient meal options."

Erie HealthReach Waukegan Health Center currently cares for more than 2,000 patients. Medical Director, Dr. Frances Baxley, looks forward to being able to connect them and others in the Waukegan area to this additional resource. "Top Box Foods has an excellent track record in Chicago and Northern Lake County," she says, "Proper nutrition is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, yet many of those we serve can't easily afford the high quality foods available in grocery stores and farmer's markets, and resort to processed or fast foods. By making discounted, high quality produce and protein available to the whole community-whether they are Erie patients or not-at our medical clinic, healthy foods will be convenient as well as affordable."

Sheila Berner Kennedy, the co-founder of Top Box Foods, and the site medical Director of Erie HealthReach Waukegan, Frances Baxley, MD will all make brief remarks just before community members begin to shop and purchase.

Customers can continue to shop from this location on the Thursday following the 2nd Wednesday of each month beginning with the Thursday, May 19th launch.
