Softball: St. Charles East wins, ties at own invite

Rylee Stout had 2 home runs, a double and 6 RBI Friday to lead St. Charles East to a 9-2 win over Oswego East at the Saints' softball invitational.

Maddy Stout added a home run for SCE, which also got 2 hits from Katie Kolb, Kelly Rinker and Megan Daly (RBI).

Delaney Devor picked up the win in the circle, allowing 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.

In their first game of the tournament, the Saints (14-2-1) tied Lyons Township 0-0 and were no-hit in the six-inning game by LT's Sapphire Munoz.

Bartlett 7, Whitney Young 3: Elyse Hickey (2B), Alyssa Nowak (2B) and Dani Kleeman had 2 hits each to lead Bartlett (11-4) to a win in the first game of the Mustang Stampede at Rolling Meadows. Dani Kirby got the win in the circle, going 6⅔ innings while allowing 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. The Hawks will take on Maine West in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Geneva 10, Palatine 0: Emily Plocinski, Annika Radabaugh (3 RBI) and Kaitlyn Keller each had doubles, Rachel Fanella a triple and Katherine Geary 2 hits for the Vikings (11-4) at the Rolling Meadows tournament. Alissa Dierks allowed 4 hits with 7 strikeouts and 3 walks to earn the win for Geneva, which will play Rolling Meadows in the semifinals at 3 p.m. Saturday.

West Aurora 16, East Aurora 2: Grace Hunger had 2 home runs, a triple and a double to lead the Blackhawks (11-1, 6-0) to an Upstate Eight Valley win. Also contributing to West Aurora's 23-hit attack were Sophia Delgado (4 hits, 3B, RBI), Sarah Hansen (2 hits), Jessica Vargas (3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBI), Libby Zoppa (2 hits, 2B, 3B, RBI), Payton Lundberg (4 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and Jamie McCreedy (2 hits, 2 RBI). Zoppa was the winning pitcher, allowing 4 hits with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk in 4 innings.

Kaneland splits: At the Washington invite, Kaneland got 3 hits including a double, triple and 4 RBI from Morgan Weber in an 8-0 win over Pontiac. Aly Jesionowski (3 hits), Lexi Abruzzo (3 hits, 2B), MaryLynn Clausen (2 hits and Rachel Goress (3B) also added to the Knights' 15-hit game. Courtney Davis earned the win going 6 innings and allowing 5 hits. In their second game, the Knights (12-6) lost to Washington 10-0. Hannah Theobald had Kaneland's only hit.

Burlington Central 16, Harvard 2: In the Big Northern East, Emily Kisch (2 hits, 3 RBI) and Danielle Yurgil (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) each hit home runs and Kristina Ahlers had 3 hits with 2 doubles, a triple and 3 RBI to lead the Rockets (12-3, 6-1) to an easy win. Kelly Wiater (2 hits, RBI), Gretchen Schrubbe (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI), Sammy Dobson (3 hits), Kassie Kramer (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Lindsey Jamrozek (2 hits, 2 RBI) also contributed. Dobson, a freshman, was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in 5 innings.

Carmel 12, Cary-Grove 1: Alyssa Gurgone had a double and Colleen Kaveney an RBI for Cary-Grove (5-9) in this nonconference loss.
