Six Flags Great America opens this weekend

Six Flags Great America opens the 2016 season this weekend. Hours for opening weekend are 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Guests who visit the park this weekend must purchase tickets in advance and online only at sixflags.com, for $24.99. Tickets for Sunday must be purchased Saturday, officials said. The Gurnee theme park will operate weekends until daily operations begin May 24. Guests will have the opportunity to be a hero to a child in the community at the Superhero Cape-A-Palooza opening weekend event. When a cape is purchased at the front gage for $15, Six Flags will donate a cape to a child patient at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. The 2016 season marks the debut of an all-new 4-D interactive thrill ride, Justice League: Battle for Metropolis, which is set to open in late spring, park officials said.
