Softball: Streamwood nets UEC win; Bartlett-South Elgin suspended

A 2-run single by Rebecca Daley in the bottom of the seventh lifted Streamwood to an 8-7 Upstate Eight Conference River Division softball victory over Larkin on Wednesday. Jessica Daley (RBI) added a double for Streamwood (5-7, 1-1), Becky Roncone had 2 hits with a triple, Ariana Wolfard 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Celena Feliciano 2 RBI. Haley Bohne (2 hits, HR, 3 RBI), Megan Chwee (HR, 2 RBI) and Sam Wahl (2 hits) led Larkin. Jessica Daley was the winning pitcher, going 7 innings and allowing 3 hits with 10 strikeouts. Hannah Gross took the loss for the Royals.

Bartlett-South Elgin suspended: Katie Fornoff had 3 hits including a home run and 2 RBI while Dani Kleeman added 2 hits with a solo home run as Bartlett was outslugging South Elgin 18-13 before the game was suspended in the bottom of the seventh inning in Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division action at South Elgin. So far, the game has featured a combined 35 hits.

Also contributing to a 20-hit attack for the Hawks (10-4, 5-1) were Elyse Hickey (2 hits, RBI), Alyssa Nowak (3 hits, 2B), Amber Pagan (2 hits, 3 RBI), Taylor Rotondo (3 hits, 2B, RBI) and Sydney Quagliano (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI).

South Elgin (5-12, 2-5) has been led by Alexa Rogalla (4 hits, 2B), Amber Derr (2 RBI), Mariah Spivey (2 hits, 2B, HR, 2 RBI), Hannah Gordon (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Bailey McClure (4 hits, 3 2Bs, HR, 4 RBI) and Erin Bradford (HR).

Batavia 15, Elgin 0: Jaelen Lisberg threw a five-inning 1-hitter for the Bulldogs (7-5, 4-1) and had 3 hits with a home run, 2 doubles and 5 RBI in the UEC River. Ashley McNamara added a double and an RBI for Batavia as did Olivia Bumbar. Jessica Rago took the loss for Elgin (3-10, 2-5).

Huntley 7, Jacobs 2: In the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division, Rylie Porretto had 3 hits with a home run and 2 RBI, Hayley O'Mara 3 hits and Megan Baczewski 2 hits and an RBI for Huntley (8-4, 3-0). Tiffany Giese earned the win, allowing 6 hits. Katie Armstrong had 2 hits and Emily Borg 2 RBI for Jacobs (2-6, 2-2).

CL South 9, Dundee-Crown 2: The Gators (4-6, 1-2) had 15 hits, all singles in this FVC Valley win. Carly Chovanec led the way with 3 hits while Taylor Kassel and Sam Schetti had 2 each. Brookelynn Maddox also drove in 2 runs. Chloe Skorija picked up the win, allowing 9 hits with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks. Deanna Origer and Hannah Gestrich each had 2 hits for the Chargers (8-9, 1-3) and Sydney Ruggles added a double.

Grayslake North 13, Hampshire 12: Aly Snider (2 hits, RBI) and Peyton DeChant (2 hits, 2B, RBI) each hit home runs for Hampshire (9-7, 2-2) in this FVC Fox loss. Morgan Haeflin added 2 hits and 3 RBI for the Whip-Purs while Renee Malecker had 2 hits and an RBI, Melissa Esparza 3 hits with a double and an RBI and Sarah Bowen 3 RBI.

Kaneland 10, Ottawa 0: Courtney Davis allowed just 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks and Morgan Weber had a home run, triple and 5 RBI to lead the Knights (10-5, 2-2) to a Northern Illinois Big XII win. Aly Jesionowski (2 hits, 3B), Meg Cohrs (2 doubles, RBI), Hannah Theobald (2 hits), MaryLynn Clausen (2B, RBI), Davis (2 RBI) and Hailey Roach (3B) also pitched in for Kaneland.

Rosary 9, Regina 2: Winning pitcher Emma Molenhouse, who allowed 2 hits with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 innings, had 3 hits with a double and 2 RBI to lead Rosary (4-8, 3-2) to a GCAC win. Sarah Willman added 2 hits and an RBI for the Royals while Aubrey Fisher drove in 2 runs and Riley Mccue had 2 hits.

St. Edward 13, Rockford Lutheran 8: Freshman Jessy Kramp, who was the winning pitcher in relief, had 2 home runs including a grand slam, a double and 7 RBI for the Green Wave (9-3) in this nonconference win. Emily Stapay (2 hits, RBI), Lindsay Zdroik (3 RBI) and, Devyn Ernst (2 hits, 2B) also contributed.

Lisle 12, Aurora Christian 1: Janae Holloway had a triple for Aurora Christian (1-7) in its nonconference loss.

East Aurora 10, Westminster Christian 6: Becca Fugiel (2B, RBI) and Kaylee Johnson each had 3 hits for Westminster (1-8) in this nonconference loss. Drew Randazzo added 2 hits and 2 RBI, Sarah Schmitt had 2 hits and an RBI an Rachel Schmitt had 2 RBI for the Warriors. Kristen Mason suffered the loss in the circle.
