Dist. 21 to consider splitting crossing guard costs with Wheeling

The Wheeling Township Elementary District 21 board Thursday will consider splitting the cost of crossing guard services at five district intersections with the village of Wheeling.

The proposed intergovernmental agreement between District 21 and Wheeling calls for the district to reimburse the village for half the cost of crossing guards, or an estimated $35,000 annually, starting in the 2016-2017 school year.

The village currently provides crossing guards at seven intersections in District 21 at no cost to the district.
