High school filmmakers invited to enter CineStudent festival

Elk Grove High School's CineStudent Film Festival is accepting submissions for this year's student festival, which is open to all high school students in the Chicago area.

The films can be of any genre and must be under 10 minutes. This year the festival will offer cash and prize awards in several categories including a grand prize for the best picture.

"We are lucky to have as an official sponsor of the festival Tribeca Flashpoint College," says Bruce Janu, the Elk Grove Film Club sponsor and director of the CineStudent Film Festival.

Tribeca Flashpoint College, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, has donated a spot in a filmmaking summer camp experience designed for high school students. The value of this package is over $900.

"The winner has a great opportunity to learn filmmaking with other high school students on the latest and most advanced filmmaking equipment," Janu said. "So get your films in now."

Completed films are due Sunday, May 1. Official rules and submission instructions can be found at www.cinestudentfilmfest.org.

The films will be shown at this year's festival on Saturday, May 21 at Elk Grove High School, 500 W. Elk Grove Blvd. in Elk Grove Village. The festival will also be shown at Elk Grove TV Channel 6.
