Baseball: Davison hurls Geneva past Elgin

Noah Davison threw a five-inning 2-hitter and Jack Wassel had a double, triple and 4 RBI Tuesday to lead Geneva to a 13-1 Upstate Eight River baseball win over Elgin.

Davison struck out 9 and didn't walk a batter.

Also contributing to the Geneva (11-4, 7-1) offense were Dylan Baer (2 hits, 2 RBI), AJ Hostman (3 hits, RBI), Josh Rose (2 hits, 4 RBI) and Jack Olson (2B).

RJ Bartlett had a double for Elgin (4-10, 4-2).

Glenbard East 7, West Aurora 5: In a nine-inning UEC Valley game, Logan Love had 2 hits for West Aurora (3-6-1, 1-2). Jake Lipscomb took the loss for the Blackhawks.

St. Charles North 17, Larkin 1: The North Stars (11-2, 7-0) pounded out 16 hits in this five-inning UEC River win. Leading the way were Zach Mettetal (2 doubles, 4 RBI), Tyler Mettetal (2 hits, 2 RBI), Anthony Delisi (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Jason Shanner (2B, 2 RBI). Ryan Litavecz picked up the win with relief help from Tim Hasto. Seth Morford had 2 hits for Larkin (2-12, 0-10) and Andy Bonnot added a double.

West Chicago 4, Bartlett 3: Cameron Mays had 3 hits for Bartlett (3-10, 0-3) in this UEC Valley loss. Jimmy Johnson added 2 hits for the Hawks, Scott Palmer had 2 RBI and Tripp Paris a double. Brandon Kendall took the loss on the mound despite striking out 11 in 5 innings.

Dundee-Crown 9, CL Central 8: Patrick Harvey drove in Danny Denz with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Chargers (9-5, 4-0) won this Fox Valley Conference game. Nick Musielewicz had 2 hits and an RBI for D-C, Sean Jay a double and 2 RBI, Denz 2 hits, Harvey 2 hits and winning pitcher Eric Hedmark a double.

Morris 6, Kaneland 1: Jake Marczuk had 2 hits and Jack Marshall a triple for Kaneland (4-6, 2-2) in this Northern Illinois Big XII loss. Jacob Violett was the losing pitcher.

CL South 13, Conant 0: Griffin Bright had 3 hits and an RBI while Kory Olsen (RBI), Ryan Parquette (2 RBI), Cam Geisser (2 RBI) and Scott Skwarek each added 2 hits to lead the Gators (12-1) to a nonconference win. Luke Dunham was the winning pitcher, allowing 2 hits in 5 innings.

Fenton 9, St. Edward 3: Losing pitcher Tyler Holte had a double for St. Edward (4-11, 0-6) in this Metro Suburban West loss.

Huntley 25, Rockford East 2: Ryan McGran had 3 hits including 2 home runs, a double and 6 RBI to lead the Red Raiders (10-6) to a nonconference win. Joe Rizzo added 2 hits with a double, Noah Konie had 2 hits with a double and 4 RBI, Denny Smith 2 RBI and Joe Boland 3 hits and 2 RBI for Huntley, which scored 16 runs in the third inning. Brad Model was the winning pitcher.

Westminster Christian 24, IMSA 5: In the Northeastern Athletic Conference, Tyler Schoemann had 3 hits and 2 RBI, Mason Runkel 3 hits and 4 RBI, Theron Dorsey 4 RBI and Nick DeMaira 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI for Westminster (7-12, 6-0). Nathen Martinez added 3 RBI while Ian Merlak and Chris King had doubles for the Warriors. Dorsey and JT Stoll combined to allow 4 hits with Dorsey earning the win.

Harvest Christian 7, Luther North 2: Also in the NAC, Brock Wilken had 3 hits with a home run and 3 RBI and Joey Pepper added 2 hits with a double and an RBI to lead the Lions (9-8, 4-5) to the win. Chad Jakel had a triple for Harvest and winning pitcher Drew Lewis, who allowed 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks, added a double and an RBI.
