Softball: Heraty keeps the heat on for Libertyville

Libertyville 4, Lake Zurich 1: Hanna Heraty lost her no-hit bid in the seventh inning, but Libertyville's softball team stayed hot by beating Lake Zurich 4-1 in North Suburban Lake Division action on Tuesday.

Heraty settled for a complete-game two-hitter with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Jamie Stevens went 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI for Libertyville (11-1, 4-0). Kenzie Rother was 2-for-2 with a triple.

Amanda Guercio homered for Lake Zurich.

Mundelein 18, Lake Forest 0: Breanna Adams went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and pitched a five-inning complete game, scattering 4 hits while striking out six and walking two in the North Suburban Lake game.

Mundelein (4-12, 1-4), which had 21 hits, got 3-for-4 efforts from Amanda Diaz (triple) and Karlee Busscher (double). Jordyn West was 3-for-3 with a double. Freshman Allison Lambert (triple) and Peyton Pribyl (double) both went 2-for-4., and Emma Mizalko was 2-for-3.

Mundelein coach Brett Wilhelm confirmed that first baseman Kaitlyn Griffin tore her ACL last week against Antioch and is out for the season. Outfielder Oliva Michalski dislocated her elbow in the same game and might be done for the rest of the season as well, Wilhelm said.

Elk Grove 11, Carmel 8: Amanda Elert and Dani DeLozier were both 3-for-4 with a double for the Corsairs in their nonconference loss.

Ace Claire Petrus, who did not pitch, was 2-for-4 with a double. Emma Bartz homered for Carmel (10-5).

Prairie Ridge 15, Grayslake North 2: Jessica Vaughn was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Knights in their Fox Valley loss.

Jenna Pozezisnki was 2-for-3, Lauren Olsen was 1-for-3, and Carissa Popp went 1-for-2 for Grayslake North. Dani Runyon also collected an RBI.

For Prairie Ridge, Kaleigh O'Brien was 2-for-2 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI.

Lakes 11, Antioch 5: Camryn Jones and Melanie Grupaka doubled as Lakes improved to 4-2 in the North Suburban Prairie with a complete-game win for Ally Perdue.

Antioch dropped to 5-1 in the Prairie.
