Celebrate Earth Week at Oakton Community College

Celebrate Earth Week, April 18-23, at Oakton Community College campuses in Des Plaines and Skokie, with lectures, green space restoration projects and recreational activities. Learn about "green" career opportunities or the latest sustainable technologies; put your "green" thumb to work by planting shrubs; help eliminate invasive garlic mustard; prepare the community garden for planting season; and enjoy nature and bird walks along the Des Plaines River. Increase your knowledge of ecological issues at talks about urban farming, the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, climate control and the benefits of banning bottled water. All events are free and open to the public. For a detailed schedule, visit the "news and events" section at www.oakton.edu.
