'De-Mystifying Islam' talk at St John UCC Palatine

"De-Mystifying Islam" is the title of a lecture by the Rev. Dr. David Foxgrover to be presented at St. John United Church of Christ, 1475 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, on Saturday, April 30, at 10 am. Coffee and refreshments will be served at 9.45 am. The event is open to all.

Topics to be covered include the basic beliefs of Muslims, the significance of the Qur'an and the role of women in Islam, as well as controversial topics such as jihad, sharia and the recent debate over whether Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

"In addition to providing information about Islam," David stated, "my goal in this lecture is to show that Muslims hold a variety of opinions on contemporary issues."

David has taught classes on World Religions and Islam at Wheaton College and Rockford (IL) University, as well as lecturing at Elmhurst College. A graduate of Fuller Seminary and Claremont Graduate School, David is presently serving as the Interim Pastor of St. John UCC.
