College of Lake County sign wins national marketing award

A colorful temporary construction wall at the College or Lake County that informs students and visitors about the new Café, and Welcome and One Stop Center additions, along with way-finding banners and directions, has won first place in interior signage and displays from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.

The Paragon gold award was announced March 13 at the organization's national conference in St. Louis. NCMPR is a professional organization for marketing and public relations professionals employed at community and technical colleges in North America.

The temporary wall, which includes architectural renderings by Legat Architects and color-coded directional signage, was designed by CLC's Public Relations and Marketing department and produced with the assistance of facilities staff.

The Welcome and One Stop Center, located in the remodeled campus core, will centralize admission, registration, financial aid and cashiers in one convenient location. The new Café will overlook Willow Lake and provide twice the space and many more food options for students. Both facilities are scheduled to open in August and are part of CLC's $163 million sustainable master plan. For details, visit www.clcillinois.edu/aboutclc/who-we-are/master-plan.

NCMPR has more than 650 colleges across the United States, Canada and other countries. The Paragon awards recognize outstanding achievement in more than 40 communications and marketing-related areas.

The Public Relations and Marketing department's other recent NCMPR awards include a District 3 Medallion gold award in 2015 for the college's annual report, a national Paragon bronze award in 2012 for the annual report and Paragon golds in 2010 for a TV spot and annual report.
