Here's why people are leaving in droves

I have just been in Florida, a state where they are so flush with money, they are looking for ways to give money back to the taxpayers. Yet, here in Illinois, the state is a trillion dollars in the red.

There is an article in The Daily Herald April 8 about the possible closing of the Illinois Math and Science Academy and other schools because of a lack of funding. The state is in very dire financial straits, to say the least.

Yet, the state can afford to pay for a new scoreboard for the White Sox, can pay for new restaurants and bars around U.S. Cellular Field, and provide state funding for other venues for the Sox. Critics will say that that money comes from the hotel and motel tax, but could not that money be used for education instead? As a Cub fan, I am glad the Cubs were required to privately finance the entire cost of the Wrigley Field renovations.

White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf and the entire state of Illinois legislature should be completely embarrassed. Yet another reason why the state of Illinois is a complete joke and why people are leaving in droves.
