Ulta Beauty to fill part of Barnes & Noble vacancy in Arlington Heights

An Ulta Beauty store will move into part of the soon-to-be-closed Barnes & Noble bookstore along Rand Road in Arlington Heights, the property's owner said Wednesday.

The good news for the Annex of Arlington shopping center comes just two days after officials confirmed that the 24,000-square-foot Barnes & Noble at 13 W. Rand Road would close May 28.

Kristen Moore, spokeswoman for center owner Brixmor Property Group, said Ulta Beauty will take up 13,280 square feet of the space. There is not yet a tenant for the additional 10,500 square feet that Barnes & Noble will leave vacant, she said.

Ulta, a makeup, hair and beauty supply chain, has another store in Arlington Heights just down the street at 456 E. Rand Road, which will relocate to the new spot. It's unclear what would fill Ulta's current location in the North Point Shopping Center after the move.

Brixmor officials said the new store would open in the first quarter of 2017.

The chain also has stores nearby in Schaumburg and Kildeer.
