Homeschool families invited to explore forest preserves

Homeschool families are invited to join the Forest Preserve District of Kane County this spring for the popular nature program series, "Homeschool Explorations."

Each month, our home-school program focuses on a different topic at a different forest preserve, allowing children to interact with local nature areas and learn about varying themes.

In April, the theme is spring sprouts. This program runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Bliss Woods Forest Preserve, 5S660 Bliss Road, Sugar Grove.

And in May, we'll learn about snakes and turtles. This program is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Creek Bend Nature Center, within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve at 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles.

All ages are welcome to register for "Homeschool Explorations," but the programs are geared toward children ages 5-10. Registration is required and is $2 per person, per program. Call (630) 444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to sign up.
