Tiger Koo's to host 'Kick for the Cure' fundraiser April 17 at Dundee-Crown

Tiger Koo's Martial Arts Academy is honored and proud to announce a special fundraising event to take place this Sunday, April 17.

Grand Master Jong Sub Koo is excited to host the 34th Tiger Koo's martial arts belt promotion testing and "Kick for the Cure" fundraiser at 10 a.m. at Dundee-Crown High School, 1500 Kings Road in Carpentersville.

Donations will be collected in the form of ticket sales (suggested minimum donation $10). One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Consistent with Master Koo's desire to give back to the community and support children, it is our privilege to partner with St. Jude, a nonprofit organization dedicated to global research to cure pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases. We are hopeful and confident the TKMA family will participate wholeheartedly in this opportunity to make a sizable contribution to St. Jude and their admirable efforts and mission to save children's lives.

In addition to the formal Tiger Koo's Belt Promotion Testing, the TKMA "Kick for the Cure" also will include a high-level belt test performed in front of a large panel of esteemed Korean martial arts dignitaries. Grand Master Koo has dedicated his life to studying and teaching tae kwon do, and the time has come and he is of the age to test for his 7th degree tae kwon do black belt. This test is a significant milestone in Master Koo's life journey and he is humbled to share this demonstration of his discipline, technique and tenacity in this physically demanding 7th degree black belt test in support of children's cancer research.

We are also excited to announce that Master Min Jeong Yi, the head master of the Tiger Koo's Martial Arts-Algonquin location, will perform her 6th degree black belt testing in tae kwon do as part of our "Kick for the Cure" fundraiser. Master Yi has been a lifelong student of Grand Master Koo and is the epitome of a humble, talented, and patient leader. She is of the age and enough time has passed that she is able and ready to advance to this next prestigious level of her martial arts training. It is an honor for Master Yi to demonstrate her focus, skills and determination and earn her 6th degree tae kwon do black belt as part of this special event to raise money that will help save children's lives.

Instructor Ethan Loh also will test for his 4th degree black belt in tae kwon do and earn the title of martial arts master at the "Kick for the Cure" fundraiser. Instructor Ethan is a remarkable teacher, talented athlete, and outstanding student. Under the tutelage of both Grand Master Koo and Master Yi, Ethan possesses the leadership, responsibility and character required to become a tae kwon do master. Instructor Ethan Loh is an exemplary martial artist and his 4th degree master black belt test will be an inspiring display of his talent and athleticism to benefit terminally ill children.
