Kids can explore possible future careers at showcase
Middle schoolers through high school sophomores and their families can explore career options or learn about careers they didn't even know about at the Community Career Exploration Showcase from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at McHenry County College gym/multi-purpose room and commons area in Building B, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
The event is free and open to all ages. Students can find out about what careers to pursue, learn about new career choices that interest them and the education options available.
Demonstrations by local businesses and MCC educational programs will highlight a variety of industries. The Kids and College program will host a College Readiness Zone and will also highlight summer programs for middle and high schoolers. A Career Cruising Corner will help students connect their passions to a career.
MCC educational divisions will highlight such industries as manufacturing and engineering/robotics, culinary and hospitality, health professions, public services, and business. Select tours of labs may be available.
In addition, students and families can find out the Dual-Credit programs for high school students, online reputation management, adult learner information session and financial aid planning. Students can enter a drawing for technology-related prizes.
The event is hosted by McHenry County College, in partnership with all McHenry County school districts, the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation and the Workforce Investment Board.
