Elgin Police said Saturday morning they have arrested a 22-year-old South Elgin man in connection with a shooting Sunday, March 20, that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

Juan A. Lara, of the 0-100 block of Millicent Court, faces a charge of aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class X felony, police said in a news release. Lara is being held in Kane County jail on $100,000 bail and would have to post $10,000 to be released while the case is pending.

The shooting of a 22-year-old man inside a home on the 700 block of Wing Street was reported about 7 a.m. March 20.

Detectives learned from witnesses that the shooter came to the location, was involved in an altercation, displayed a handgun and fired toward the victim, striking him, police said. On Friday, detectives arrested Lara at Route 20 and McLean Boulevard in Elgin.
