Barrington Jazz Bands Present Java & Jazz April 22

Families, friends and fans of great jazz are invited to unwind during a very special evening of musical performances by the award-winning Barrington High School Rithum Machine and Jazz Ensemble along with various jazz combos.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to hear great music played by some very talented local musicians," said Randy Karon, Director of Bands for Barrington High School. "They've got the whole 'jazz club' vibe down." The BHS Rithum Machine has played with the Mark Colby Quartet at the renowned Jazz Showcase, the oldest jazz club in Chicago. The musicians also perform with the Chicago Jazz Consortium at Durty Nellie's in Palatine and at many jazz festivals throughout the year.

"One highlight of Java & Jazz is our 'pass the hat' tune where our musicians have the chance to improvise solos," noted Karon. "This is where the talent and creativity of these young artists really shines - they will amaze you."

Admission to Java & Jazz is only $5 for adults, $3 for students and FREE for kids under 10. Tickets are available at the door. Hot Starbucks coffee, cold drinks, sandwiches from Jimmy John's and delicious home-baked treats will be available for purchase along with limited edition 'bottomless' Java & Jazz mugs. Refill the J & J mug with free coffee all night long. Enter the Java & Jazz Gift Basket Raffle for a chance to win some fabulous prizes. All proceeds benefit BHS Band programs.
