Softball: Rolling Meadows stays unbeaten

Rolling Meadows' softball team continued its undefeated lead-up to Mid-Suburban League conference play, which begins on Monday.

The Mustangs made it six wins in a row on Thursday when its belted 17 hits in a 9-3 triumph at Elgin.

Junior pitcher Lydia Schultz (6-0) struck out six in six innings before freshman Elise Kowalski threw the final inning and did not surrender a run.

Sara Benner (2-for-4), Elizabeth Elkins (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Mallory King (4-for-5, 2 RBI) and Amanda Elkins (2-for-4, 3 RBI) each had a double for Meadows.

Other top hitters for the Mustangs were Paige Connor (2-for-4), Meghan Slowik (2-for-4) and Caroline Slowik (2-for-4).

Cary-Grove 7, Palatine 4: Grace Huff (2-for-3, 2 runs), Kenzie Craver (2-for-3, walk, 2 RBI) and pitcher Sarah Grossman (2-for-2, 1 run) were top hitters for the visiting Pirates (0-4).

Teammates Victoria Parrott had a RBI and 2 walks while Emily Parrott had a RBI and a double. Brooke Bauer drew 2 walks.
