Palatine man charged with sexually abusing teen
A 24-year-old Palatine man was ordered held on $400,000 bail Thursday on charges he sexually abused a hearing-impaired teen.
Corey Stoval, whose background includes three felony convictions, has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He faces up to 15 years in prison if he's convicted.
Prosecutors say Stoval molested the 14-year-old girl on March 22. The girl immediately told family members, who contacted police, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin.
The girl identified Stoval in a photo lineup, Shin said.
Stoval was sentenced to 24 months of probation in 2013 for the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. While Stoval was still on probation, he attempted to escape electronic monitoring and was sentenced to two years in prison, Shin said. Stoval also received two years of probation in 2010 in exchange for pleading guilty to aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
Stoval next appears in court on May 2.
