Aurora City Hall email down for 2 days
AURORA, Ill. (AP) - Aurora City Hall was in a temporary time warp earlier this week as technicians attempted to bring the city's email system back on.
The (Aurora) Beacon-News reports (http://trib.in/1SQaPzl ) that Technology Department workers were conducting normal upgrades Sunday when the email server did not respond when the rest of the system was brought back online.
Alexa Alexandrou is director of human resources and risk management. He told the City Council on Tuesday that staff members are investigating the cause but that email was working again.
Alexandrou says to workers, "it felt like 1997 or 1996, using telephones and faxes."
Mayor Tom Weisner joked that while email was down, the usually malfunctioning new elevator was working. He called it a "yin and yang" situation.
