Names of youth sought for Hanover Twp. awards

The Hanover Township Committee on Youth is accepting nominations for the 2016 Celebration of Leadership Awards. The categories for this year's awards are: Rising Star, Elementary Student (grades K-sixth); Junior Leader, middle school student (seventh and eighth grades); High School Leader Award, high school student (grades ninth-12th); Community Youth Leader, an adult who lives in the township and works with township youth in a leadership capacity; and Principal of the Year, a principal from a township area school, including primary, secondary, alternative education and private schools.

All youth nominees must be Hanover Township residents and demonstrate genuine leadership. Nominations can be submitted by a school staff member, parent of a student, student, student group, community organization or business. Principals cannot nominate themselves. The nominees and winners will be honored and celebrated at a reception in May.

"Leaders, youth themselves or adults that work with them, are an integral part of the community," said Craig Essick, Hanover Township trustee. "This is a great way to recognize their extraordinary character and let them know their hard work does not go unnoticed."

Nomination forms are available on the township's website at www.hanover-township.org or at the Hanover Township Youth & Family Services office at 250 S. Route 59, Bartlett. Completed nominations are due no later than Friday, April 8.

For questions, please contact John Parquette, Hanover Township Director of Youth and Family Services at (630) 483-5799 or at jparquette@hanover-township.org.
