Center seeks donations for wildlife babies

Willowbrook Wildlife Center in Glen Ellyn is seeking donations of supplies, food and gift cards to accommodate the influx of wildlife babies it cares for during the spring breeding season.

A complete list of needed items is available on the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County's website, dupageforest.org. Items also can be donated through the center's Amazon Wish List (at amazon.com, search for "Willowbrook Wildlife wish list"). Donations are tax deductible.

"Donations of supplies not only help us keep our costs down but also allow staff to focus efforts on caring for wildlife," said Commissioner Tim Whelan, District 4.

Willowbrook Wildlife Center is the only publicly funded wildlife rehabilitation facility in DuPage County and one of the few in northeastern Illinois equipped to treat native and migratory birds. The center treats more than 9,000 birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians every year.

"We couldn't do this important work without help from our donors and volunteers," said Joe Cantore, president of the forest preserve district.
