McHenry County Board District 4 primary close

A new face was poised Tuesday night to take a step toward serving on the McHenry County Board as a District 4 representative for the next two years.

Voters were to choose two from a three-person field - incumbent Sue Draffkorn of Wonder Lake and challengers Craig Wilcox and Kay Bates, both of McHenry - for the Republican nominations for two, 2-year District 4 seats.

As of 10:45 p.m., unofficial and partial results from the McHenry County Clerk's Office showed Wilcox leading with 1,380 votes, with Bates and Draffkorn tallying 1,185 and 1,151 votes, respectively.

The two top vote-getters will advance to the Nov. 8 election. No Democrats have filed yet.
