Girl falls 25 feet off bridge in forest preserve near Carpentersville

A 17-year-old girl who fell 25 feet off a bridge Tuesday in Kane County Forest Preserve's Raceway Woods near Carpentersville was taken to a hospital by Flight for Life helicopter with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, officials say.

The Carpentersville Fire Department arrived on the scene at 3:53 p.m. to find the girl who had fallen off the bridge in the preserve near Route 31, according to a news release.

Carpentersville Fire Department Batallion Chief Bob Beattie says there was a path below the bridge the girl had fallen from.

"We carried her out of there on the stretcher and onto the helicopter," Beattie said.

The girl was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, and her current condition is unknown, Beattie said. Kane County Forest Preserve police are investigating.

"As far as I know, it was an accident," Beattie said.
