Elgin man charged in home burglary

An Elgin man has been charged in connection with a home burglary in January.

Christen Deleslin, 20, is accused of breaking into a home with another man on the 600 block of Chester Avenue on Jan. 19, police said.

According to a news release, a woman and her friend were inside an apartment when the front door was kicked in and two men, who were wearing bandannas over their mouths, entered. One of the men forced the woman to the ground and stole cash and electronics from the apartment. The woman had minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

Police said the Elgin Major Investigations Division had been working the case for the last month-and-a-half and issued a warrant for Deleslin, who was already in custody at the Kane County jail, on Tuesday.

Deleslin was charged with residential burglary and aggravated robbery. His bond was set at $70,000.
