Dance party with a message at Butterfield School

It was a big dance party Tuesday at Butterfield Elementary School, where students and teachers jammed to the sounds of Dr. Cool & Pride.

The award-winning songwriter and performer, Dr. Cool, and his multitalented party crew, Pride and Hop, performed original songs and classic tunes while spreading their message of resilience, empowerment and pride.

"We call it an attitude and movement revolution. We are trying to raise strong, smart, empowered kids so they turn into great adults," said Jeff Bizar, who plays Dr. Cool. "We teach them how to be resilient, how to persevere and how to make smart decisions and then we wrap it all in with positive hip-hop music."

Students were called up and performed their best dance moves to the music of "Shake It Off," then teachers were included, dancing to "Uptown Funk" and "Shut Up & Dance" at the Libertyville school.

"I think it was really fun to dance in an assembly because we don't usually get to do that stuff," fourth-grader Sophia Debruler said after dancing with her classmates. "I think it's good that they're telling everybody so that, in the future, they know what to do if they are being bullied."

The event was sponsored by the Butterfield Family Association teaching students to be their best while changing the world.
