'Beautiful' set to return to Chicago next year

"Beautiful - The Carole King Musical" will return to the city next year for a limited run, Broadway in Chicago announced Tuesday, just two days after the tour of the show wrapped up its Chicago stay.

Chicago's acclaimed two-month run starred Evanston native Abby Mueller, who heads up the national tour of the jukebox tuner about the early career and personal life of the teenage songwriting protégé turned Grammy Award-winning artist. Mueller's sister Jessie Mueller, who originated the role on Broadway, earned a 2014 Tony Award for her performance.

Written by Douglas McGrath and directed by Marc Bruni, "Beautiful" features music by King and Gerry Goffin and the songwriting team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.

The show will run Dec. 5-31, 2017, at a theater to be determined. Group tickets are available at (312) 977-1710. Individual tickets will go on sale at a later date. See broadwayinchicago.com for details.
