Wind advisory for Friday: Gusts up to 50 mph

Expect strong winds throughout the suburbs on Friday, forecasters predict.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Friday that estimates winds blowing southwest 25 to 35 mph and with gusts of up to 50 mph.

The advisory includes all of the Chicago area and warns that strong winds could make travel hazardous, especially in high-profile vehicles. Additionally, winds could cause property damage if precautions aren't taken.

Drivers should stay alert and use caution, meteorologists said.

On the plus side, the forecast high temperature will be in the mid- to high 50s, and the wind will die down on Saturday while temps stay in the 50s.
