Former Stevenson student pleads guilty to bringing gun to school

A former Stevenson High School student accused of bringing a gun to the Lincolnshire school in December pleaded guilty in Lake County court Tuesday to one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Lamont Glenn, 17, of Buffalo Grove, was sentenced to 10 months of periodic imprisonment, 24 months probation, and 125 public service hours as part of the negotiated agreement approved by Judge Victoria Rossetti. As part of the plea agreement, Glenn was ordered to not possess guns, alcohol or drugs. He also is not allowed to associate with any gangs, and cannot return to Stevenson.

Glenn, of the 1000 block of Ranchview Court, was given credit for 75 days served in Lake County jail. As part of the negotiated settlement, prosecutors agreed to drop charges of unlawful possession of a firearm without a firearm owners identification card.

He was charged as an adult for bringing the 38-caliber handgun to the school. Glenn was arrested when Stevenson officials were tipped off by a parent that Glenn brought a gun to school the previous day, authorities said.

Officials investigated the claim and learned Glenn had the gun in his possession at school Dec. 4, officials said. He was found in a classroom, and the gun was in a nearby backpack, wrapped in a bandanna, authorities said. No one was hurt.

Rossetti ordered Tuesday the gun be destroyed by the Lincolnshire Police Department.

Glenn is expected to be released into the custody of his mother and enrolled in a Palatine school.
