Sheriff: "Person of interest" in custody after Burlington Twp. man found dead
A "person of interest" is in custody after a Burlington Township man was found dead Sunday in his home, officials said.
Kane County sheriff's deputies found evidence indicating a struggle may have occurred inside the residence, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. The public is not in danger, officials said, and authorities are not searching for any other suspects.
About 3:30 a.m., sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel from Burlington Community Fire Protection District responded to a home in unincorporated Burlington Township to find the man dead inside the home, authorities said.
The results of an autopsy performed Sunday are pending, sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said. Authorities are not yet identifying the victim but say he is about 50 years old. No charges have been filed against the person in custody, officials said. A death investigation is being conducted by the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force.
