DeKalb High School band to perform in Ireland parade

DeKALB, Ill. (AP) - The DeKalb High School marching band could be heading to Ireland to perform at the 2017 St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin.

The Daily Chronicle reports (bit.ly/1PI5Tt2) The Marching Barbs have been invited to perform during next year's four-day festival and band competition. Half a million people will view the parade.

But first the band needs to raise almost $250,000 to offset travel costs for about 100 students.

Band Director Steven Lundin says there's something special about St. Patrick's Day in Dublin. He says "We expect it will be a really special experience."

Four years ago, the band performed at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
