Careful what you wish for, Republicans

The approval rating of Congress could hardly go much lower. But to be fair the Republican-controlled Congress gets a bum rap.

Republicans have for the past two years blamed their failure to pass meaningful legislation on President Obama who they say is the reason for their abysmal performance.

So let's give Republicans an opportunity to follow through with their promises to cut taxes, repeal Obamacare, pass an immigration plan and end many of the regulations enacted by the Obama administration by electing a Republican president.

With a Republican president the Congress will no longer have an excuse for being a do-nothing Congress; they will have to cut taxes, enact a new comprehensive health plan, improve the economy, balance the budget, jettison the deal with Iraq, build the Keystone pipeline, open up more areas in Alaska for drilling, solve the problem of 11 million illegals and deal more aggressively with the terrorists in the Middle East.

Yes, a Republican president will be a bonanza for the country, but, of course, Republicans will have to accomplish this while keeping their promise to build up the military which already has a budget that is larger than the next nine nations combined. And let's not forget another Republican promise, that of reducing the national debt which is about $19 trillion.

Some might be skeptical about the Republicans keeping their promises, but not me, because I know Republican politicians would not make promises they did not intend to keep.
