Camerata Chicago Academy Named Ensemble in Residence at Wheaton Church

Wheaton's Gary United Methodist Church has announced the appointment of Camerata Chicago Academy, directed by Maestro Drostan Hall, as Ensemble in Residence.

The Camerata Chicago Academy, founded in 2014, is an orchestra comprising advanced high school students, and provides a unique setting for young musicians to perform in a professional atmosphere under the direction of an internationally known conductor, Drostan Hall. Maestro Hall is the Music Director of Camerata Chicago (the parent group of Camerata Chicago Academy), and he has 25 years of experience training aspiring young musicians. The objective of the Academy is to achieve a high level of music making to produce a disciplined and professional sound, allowing young musicians to learn to work together, and to help prepare them for future opportunities.

According to Jennifer Whiting, the church's Director of Music: "Gary Church enthusiastically supports their mission and their service to the community." CCA has enjoyed a relationship with the church since September, 2014. The orchestra rehearses in the church music room every Saturday during the school year, and they perform in worship one Sunday each semester. They also present a concert in the church sanctuary twice a year. Additionally, select members of CCA have performed in Gary Church for special occasions and for Sunday worship services. Maestro Hall, also an acclaimed violinist, has performed at the church as well. Whiting added: "These performances are welcomed by the congregation, and they greatly enhance our worship experiences. Gary Church has a long tradition of supporting fine music and promoting excellence in the arts, with involvement from musicians at all levels of accomplishment."
