Images: Matt Forte's years with the Chicago Bears

Matt Forte's run with the Chicago Bears is over.

The longtime Bears running back announced on Instagram Friday morning that the team told him they will not be re-signing him in the offseason.

Forte is the second leading rusher in Bears history.

Drafted in 2008 out of Tulane, Forte finishes his Bears career as the No. 2 rusher in franchise history with 8,602 yards. His numbers through 8 seasons and 120 regular-season games: 45 rushing TDs, 19 receiving TDs.
