Register now for 'Run for the Nuns' 5K Walk/Run

The second annual "Run for the Nuns" 5K Walk/Run will be 9:30 a.m. Sunday, March 6. Sign up now and get your racing season started! Or go at your own pace and be inspired by joining the nuns as they run and walk the 5K route.

All ages are encouraged to participate.

Make the "Run for the Nuns" a competition, a social event or a family gathering. The course starts at Thornwood Community Center in South Elgin and runs 3.1 miles through the Thornwood residential neighborhood.

The community event is hosted by St. Patrick Catholic Church in conjunction with its 19th annual Here I Am Lord Vocation Conference held at the church.

This event allows the nuns and religious members to join the local community and "get out there". The event proceeds will go to the Imagine Sisters Movement who will join in the run.

5K participants will receive a cotton T-shirt with registration prior to Friday, Feb. 26. The registration fees start at $10 for children 13 and under and family registration with 4 or more participants receive a special rate.

A processing fee applies for online registration. Race-day registration will be from March 6 from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Race will begin at 9:30 a.m.
