Singers Of United Lands to perform at MCC Feb. 16

McHenry County College will host the ninth annual Singers Of United Lands concert/workshop, featuring a quartet of singers from four different countries during two one-hour concerts/workshops Tuesday, Feb. 16.

S.O.U.L. will perform at noon in the college's Luecht Conference Center, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

A second performance will take place at 7 p.m. at the Crystal Lake Montessori School, 3013 S. Country Club Road in Woodstock.

This year's singers hail from Albania, Kenya, Malaysia and Norway. This ensemble only performs songs which are native to the home countries of the four members while offering interactive multicultural workshops, presentations, and performances for audiences of all ages.

The program is sponsored by the MCC Music Department and Crystal Lake Montessori School.

"This group is enlightening because of the diversity of the performers who share authentic music and culture from each of their countries," said Steve Szalaj, MCC music instructor.

The concerts are free and open to the public.
