Cougars' landscaper wins award
GENEVA - The Acres Group, official landscaper of the Kane County Cougars, received an Excellence in Landscape Gold Award from the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association for its work at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, home of the Cougars.
In celebration of the Cougars' recent 25th anniversary season in 2015, Acres Group designed the Cougars' annual flower program in the fall of 2014 with more than 350 flats of premier annuals custom grown for the Cougars, according to Acres Group Vice President, Michael Kolowski.
Those flowers welcomed fans with a beautiful entry sign display when turning onto Cherry Lane on the ballpark grounds. A large begonia baseball nestled in a carpet of verbena near Gate 3 created a constant photo opportunity as fans entered the ballpark. Throughout the ballpark, beautiful planting beds and containers wowed fans with displays of exciting color combinations.
New to Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in 2015 was "The Patio," which included multicolored Adirondack patio furniture from Wannemaker's Home and Garden, along with Acres Group's construction of Rosetta stone walls and limestone path in the first base lawn seating area. In addition, 36 maple trees were planted inside the ballpark for beauty, shade and an overall family-friendly feel.
"We'd like to congratulate Acres Group on receiving such a prestigious award in recognition of their impressive work at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark," said Cougars owner Cheryl A. Froehlich. "We heard compliments from numerous fans throughout the season regarding the large baseball when entering the ballpark, the planting of maple trees and a landscaped area which perfectly framed our vision of 'The Patio' inside the ballpark."
