Vernon Hills students rehearse 'Twelve Angry Jurors'

The Vernon Hills High School Backlight Theatre Company held a dress rehearsal Tuesday of "Twelve Angry Jurors."

In the play, a 19-year-old man has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. It looks like an open-and-shut case - until one of the jurors begins opening the others' eyes to the facts.

"I thought that the themes are still relevant today. It's a great show to showcase student actor talent," said Director Stepahnie Freichels.

The Backlight Theatre Company decided to present "Twelve Angry Jurors" in two time periods. Two performances will be set in 1957 and the remaining set in 2015. Without changing the script but merely the setting, the cast will present the drama in two totally different ways.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 11-13, in the Studio Theatre. A special after-school performance will be on Friday at 3:45 p.m. Tickets are $4 for students, $5 for adults, and are available at https://search.seatyourself.biz/search/orders?q=vernon+hills.
